Kurt Russell is a former child actor who is best known for playing action antiheroes such as Snake Plissken in Escape from New York. His first film appearance was at age 10 in It Happened at the World's Fair, with Elvis Presley. He later received an Emmy nomination for his performance as Elvis in John Carpenter's TV biography of the same name. Russell has appeared in six of Carpenter's films.

The willingness to perform his own stunts helped Russell to land his early feature film roles. His biggest successes have been action films, but he has enough range to have appeared in comedies like Used Cars and dramas like Silkwood.
