David Hemmings was a multitalented artist. He sang as a boy, and parts in some of Benjamin Britten's works were reputedly written specifically for him. At age 15 he entered art school, and already had art exhibits and film appearances to his credit. His reputation was made with his starring role in Michelangelo Antonioni's Blow-Up.
Hemmings divided his time between acting and directing in the 1970s, but spent most of the 1980s behind the camera. He directed many episodes of Magnum, P.I., Airwolf and The A-Team.
